Head of School 

Brenda May, M.Ed

Brenda A. May is our new full time Head of School.  Mrs. May has a Master's Degree from the University of Houston at Clear Lake in Educational Mid-Management. She continued her education and holds not only a principals certificate, but a superintendent's certificate, as well.  She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from The University of Arkansas at Monticello. Mrs. May has taught grades 2-12 in public and private schools, been an Assistant Principal,  Principal, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Intervention Specialist, and Dual Credit Coordinator. Mrs. May just completed her 42nd year in education. She has been happily married to Larry for 45 years. She has a son and daughter-in-law, Chris and Shelly, and two beautiful grandchildren, Malia and Mitch. Mrs. May truly feels and believes that God lead her to Momentum Academy and can't wait to work, teach and inspire the students to be the best.

Mrs. Knight has a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from Illinois State University, with an emphasis on Learning Disabilities, Behavior Disorders, and Social Emotional Disturbances.  She provided resource and behavioral support for middle school students for 7 years in Pearland ISD, and was an Instructional Specialist with CCISD for 7 years, providing Behavioral and Instructional support for students in Preschool through 5th grade with teachers, administrators, and auxiliary staff.  She has presented at the state, regional, and district level. She has volunteered in student ministry as a small group leader for over 7 years with 6th-12th grade female student, including one of our very own girls, which is how God brought her to the Momentum Academy.

 

Math Classroom Teacher

Barbara Chason

Mrs. Chason graduated from Graceland University with a B. A. in Mathematics and attended Texas State University to complete courses for Texas Teaching Certificate.  Her teaching career has spanned more than 35 years, teaching grades 7th through Algebra 2 PAP.  Mrs. Chason's last 8 years were spent working as a Math Instructional Specialist.  She estimates that she has taught about 3,600 students!  Mrs. Chason is married to her best friend, Tony and enjoys volunteering at her church's campgrounds in Bandera.  She has had many volunteer roles there from directing youth camps, to working as a counselor and to serving on the Board of Directors.

 

Science and Social Studies Classroom Teacher

Thomas Lambert 

Mr. Lambert is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a B.A. in Geography and the University of Houston with a Masters of Education, Curriculum and Instruction.  He has a Lifetime Texas teacher's certfication and has taught over 25 years at several schools within CCISD and HISD.

Mr. Lambert is known for being patient, easy to approach, and firm in his beliefs.  Outside of school, Mr. Lambert is a dive master, holds a Merchant Marine license, enjoys woodworking and is quick to lend a hand. Tom has grown children and one grandchild.   He lives in Clear Lake with his wife, Helen.

Percy, Facility Dog

Percy Jackson is an Australian Labradoodle, trained as a service dog by MADE in Texas Assistance Dogs. After spending 2 year in training and learning over 200 commands, Percy was ready to be placed as a Service Dog. He joined our staff in December and became the areas first Facility Dog. Percy's job duties include (but are not limited to): supporting students with anxiety; providing non-judgmental inventions; assisting in pressure therapy; giving hugs; teaching social skills and responsibilities and providing support at recess.

When he is not at work, Percy's vest is removed and he leads a normal life in Friendswood as a dog!
